Local favorite Asagoe crashes out of Japan Open
TOKYO, Japan - Japan's Shinobu Asagoe crashes out of the women's singles competition after being condemned to a first-round defeat by Tamarine Tanasugarn at the Japan Open at Ariake Tennis Forest Park on Oct. 5. World No. 43 Asagoe, who reached the last eight of last month's U.S. Open, was defeated by her 76th-ranked Thai opponent 0-6, 4-6.
