Slugger Nakamura leaves for U.S. in bid for MLB move

OSAKA, Japan - Orix Buffaloes infielder Norihiro Nakamura, who has expressed his hopes to play in the major leagues next season, leaves Kansai International Airport for the United States on Dec. 4 to demonstrate his capabilities in front of major league scouts. ''I want them to watch my defensive skills and it will be good if I can show them how good I am in fielding,'' said Nakamura, who is scheduled to stay in the United States for about two weeks.

Nakamura's departure from Orix official

OSAKA, Japan - Orix Buffaloes infielder Norihiro Nakamura holds a press conference in Osaka on Jan. 12 after his imminent departure from the Pacific League club became official. He could not reach a contract agreement after a sixth round of talks with the club. ''I am glad that I took part in these negotiations. I have to look forward now,'' he said, adding that he will either be traded to another team or released by Orix.
