U.S. Marine vessel allegedly threatened Japanese fishing boat
HIROSHIMA, Japan - Capt. Stewart Upton (R), a spokesperson at the U.S. Marine Corps Iwakuni Air Station, visits the office of a fisheries cooperative in Etajima, Hiroshima Prefecture, on Jan. 14 after a U.S. Marine Corps patrol boat allegedly threatened a Japanese fishing boat on Jan. 5 in the Inland Sea off Etajima, leveling a gun at a fisherman onboard. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda quoted the U.S. military as having said the patrol boat did not point a gun at the fishing boat.
