China rejects Japan's call to halt gas projects
BEIJING, China - Kenichiro Sasae (L), director general of the Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, and Nobuyori Kodaira, head of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, speak to reporters after two days of talks with Chinese officials in Beijing on May 31. China turned down Japan's request to halt its gas projects in the East China Sea but made a detailed proposal for easing the dispute, they said.
