Witness account of Hiroshima bombing sent to Manhattan Project head

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Photo shows copies of an eyewitness account written by the Rev. John A. Siemes (1907-1983), a German priest of the Society of Jesus, of the Aug. 6, 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Time magazine that carried the account. A recently discovered document shows that the priest's account was sent in autumn of 1945 to U.S. Maj. Gen. Leslie Groves, head of the Manhattan Project.
