LDP won't endorse rebels even if coalition fails to win majority

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (L) leaves the office of Liberal Democratic Party Secretary General Tsutomu Takebe (R) after talks on adjustment of candidates to be fielded by the party in the Sept. 11 general election. Takebe said later that LDP will not endorse party members who voted against postal privatization bills even if the LDP-led ruling coalition fails to win a majority in the election. He was referring to a practice of endorsing candidates as a party's official candidates after they won in an election.
