Mayor Ma takes over KMT leadership, eyes 2008 presidency
TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou delivers a speech after taking over leadership of the main opposition Nationalist Party, or Kuomintang, in Taipei on Aug. 19. Ma, 55, said the biggest challenges ahead for the party will be to carry out more reforms and to regain the presidency in 2008.
