Sony unveils new Walkman that 'evolves' to suit users' taste

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. said Sept. 8 it will release five new palm-size digital Walkman models that ''evolves'' in accordance with listeners' preference of music. The new Walkman A series, to be put on the Japanese market Nov. 19, is equipped with functions to learn users' taste in music. The five new models, including a 20-gigabyte one capable of storing up to 13,000 songs, are expected to be available for 30,000 to 35,000 yen.

KDDI unveils new mobile phone brand in tie-up with designers

Sony to introduce 15 new LCD TVs

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. said Aug. 29 it will soon introduce 15 new Bravia liquid crystal display televisions including a 70-inch one, the largest LCD TV for consumers in Japan. Of the 15 new TVs, 11 will be put on sale on Sept. 20, including the popular 46-inch model that is expected to sell for 400,000 to 500,000 yen.

Nikon develops digital camera with built-in wireless LAN

TOKYO, Japan - Nikon Corp. has developed what it says is the world's first digital camera with a built-in function allowing users to transmit image data wirelessly to printers and personal computers. The Coolpix P1 -- 9.1 centimeters by 6.0 cm by 3.9 cm -- can transmit image data to a PC up to 30 meters away from the user, Nikon said, adding that it will put the camera on the market Sept. 23 for about 50,000 yen.

NTT DoCoMo to introduce 5 new mobile handsets in June

TOKYO, Japan - NTT DoCoMo Inc. said May 17 it will launch five new handsets in June for its FOMA third-generation mobile phone services. The new 901iS series will feature electronic money services and allow users to browse document files and switch to the television-mode during a voice call. Each model is expected to sell for around 35,000 yen.
