Artificially bred storks released into wild for 1st time anywhere

TOYOOKA, Japan - An artificially bred white oriental stork is released into the wild for the first time in the world in Hyogo Prefecture on Sept. 24 in a ceremony attended by Prince Akishino (2nd from R) and his wife Princess Kiko (R) -- more than three decades after the species became extinct in the wild in Japan. Two male and three female storks aged between 2 and 7 were released from a breeding farm in the city of Toyooka.
