Japan, China split over gas fields but agree to meet again

TOKYO, Japan - Chief Japanese delegate Kenichiro Sasae (L) and Nobuyori Kodaira (R), director general of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, hold a news conference in Tokyo on Oct. 1 after talks with China on Chinese gas and oil exploration in East China Sea fields. The two countries remained at odds but agreed to meet again later this month to weigh possible joint development.
