Hiroshima to drop appeal on overseas A-bomb victims benefits

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba speaks at a news conference Oct. 7. Akiba said the Hiroshima city government will drop its appeal over the Hiroshima District Court's ruling in May that atomic-bomb survivors living abroad are not required to visit Japan to apply for medical benefits and funeral assistance.
