Mori moving closer to joining Devil Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, United States - Japanese pitcher Shinji Mori speaks with reporters in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Dec. 22, suggesting that he is moving toward joining the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. ''Negotiations are going very well. I got excited when I went to Tropicana Field,'' Mori said. The 30-year-old right-hander is in St. Petersburg for talks with Devil Rays executives after drawing the highest bid from the American League club via the posting system.
