Thai prime minister dissolves parliament, snap election to be held

BANGKOK, Thailand - Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra (in file photo) said on Feb. 24 that he will formally announce the dissolution of parliament later in the day, paving the way for a general election to be held within two months. Thaksin made the remarks to reporters after an audience with King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who gave his blessing to the planned dissolution of the House of Representatives.
