Diet calls on scandal-hit lawmaker Nishimura to quit
TOKYO, Japan - Shingo Nishimura (C) remains seated as other members of the House of Representatives stand up in support of a nonbinding resolution urging him to resign as lawmaker over allegations that he violated the Lawyers Law. The motion was backed by a majority of lower house members, including those of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and the opposition Democratic Party of Japan, which kicked out Nishimura in November when the scandal broke out.
