Kan expresses willingness to run for DPJ leadership
TOKYO, Japan - Naoto Kan, two-time leader of the Democratic Party of Japan, is surrounded by reporters at cherry-viewing party hosted by party Secretary-General Yukio Hatoyama in Tokyo on April 4. Kan expressed his eagerness earlier in the day to run in the party's presidential race on April 7, raising the chances he could face off against DPJ heavyweight Ichiro Ozawa if the party chooses to hold an election.
