Tigers' Kanemoto marks record of 903 consecutive games
OSAKA, Japan - Hanshin Tigers' cleanup hitter Tomoaki Kanemoto matched former Baltimore Orioles star Cal Ripken Jr.'s major league record of playing 903 consecutive games without missing an inning in a game against Yokohama BayStars in Osaka on April 8. The 38-year-old has maintained the iron-man streak since July 21, 1999, when he was with the Hiroshima Carp.
