Japan demands S. Korea halt maritime survey near isles
TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Shotaro Yachi (L) and South Korean Ambassador to Japan Ra Jong Yil shake hands at the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo on July 5 before their talks. Yachi summoned Ra to file a protest and demand that South Korea halt its maritime survey in a Japan-claimed exclusive economic zone around a pair of disputed islets in the Sea of Japan.
