August economic report short of declaring full end to deflation
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi presides over a meeting of his economic ministers at his office on Aug. 8. In a monthly economic report adopted at the meeting, the government avoided declaring that deflation has ended in Japan's economy, though it dropped the word ''deflation'' for the second straight month.
