Chiba to retire from competitive marathons

SAPPORO, Japan - Japanese runner Masako Chiba, women's marathon bronze medalist at the 2003 world championships, said in Sapporo, Hokkaido, on Aug. 25 she will retire from competitive marathons after taking part in the Hokkaido Marathon in Sapporo Aug. 26.
