Abe wins Japan's ruling party leadership, to become premier
TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe (R) shakes hands with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi after winning the Liberal Democratic Party presidential election at the LDP headquarters in Tokyo on Sept. 21. Abe beat his two rivals in the election, Foreign Minister Taro Aso and Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki.
