Heart' the key for Tokyo's Olympic bid: IOC chief Rogge

TOKYO, Japan - International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge pose for a photo during his visit to Kyodo News on Oct. 20. Rogge said that winning the heart of the selectors is the key factor in Tokyo's planned bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. ''It is to win the heart of the people, not the mind of the people,'' Rogge said when asked about chances of the Japanese capital staging an Olympics for the second time and first since 1964.

                [Breaking News]Olympics Sapporo left out as IOC signals 2030, 2034 games hosts

                TOKYO, Nov. 30 Kyodo -The International Olympic Committee on Wednesday named Salt Lake City, Utah, as its preferred host for the 2034 Winter Olympics, extinguishing Sapporo's hopes of hosting the games.Sapporo Mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto is considering formulating a policy about a potential 2038 bid by the end of this year.
