Memorial ceremonies mark 2nd anniversary of Niigata quake
NAGAOKA, Japan - Local people light candles and offer silent prayers in the city of Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, at 5:56 p.m. on Oct. 23, the time the magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit the prefecture two years ago. The quake killed 67 people, leaving some 4,800 people injured and 17,000 houses destroyed or damaged.
