2 ex-skating fed. execs served fresh arrest warrants

TOKYO, Japan - Katsuichiro Hisanaga (L in file photo), a former president of the Japan Skating Federation, and the federation's former director Mitsuo Matsumoto (R in file photo) were served fresh arrest warrants on Oct. 24 on breach of trust charges for allegedly causing 16 million yen in losses to the organization by making a travel agency overcharge for travel fees, police said.

Olympic champ Arakawa pulls out of world c'ships

TOKYO, Japan - Olympic figure skating champion Shizuka Arakawa (L, file photo) has opted to sit out the March 20-26 world championships in Calgary, Canada, the Japan Skating Federation said March 9. Her busy schedule after the Turin Games has made it difficult for her to prepare fully for the championships. Yoshie Onda (R) will fill in for Arakawa.
