Thorpe announces retirement from competitive swimming

SYDNEY, Australia - Australia's swimming superstar Ian Thorpe (file photo) said Nov. 21 he is retiring from competitive swimming. He earned a total of five gold medals at the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics.
