Ruling bloc unveils tax reform outline favorable to firms
TOKYO, Japan - Yuji Shimazu (C), chairman of the Tax Commission of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is seated for a plenary session of the panel at the party headquarters in Tokyo on Dec. 14. The LDP, joined later by its coalition partner New Komeito party unveiled a tax reform outline for fiscal 2007, featuring a series of tax breaks for companies and a pledge to address drastic tax reform, including raising the consumption tax, from late in 2007.
