Japan confirms bird flu outbreak at Miyazaki farm
KIYOTAKE, Japan - The road leading to a chicken farm in Kiyotake, Miyazaki Prefecture, where hundreds of chicken raised have died from bird flu is sprayed with lime as workers prepare to cull the remaining chickens there. Health authorities confirmed Jan. 13 that the chicken were infected by avian influenza. The farm first reported the deaths of 250 chickens on Jan. 10, and the number rose to 3,800 as of Jan. 13.
