Higashi wins 1st STV Cup title in 14 years

SAPPORO, Japan - Veteran ski jumper Akira Higashi held off two European rivals to win his first STV Cup title in 14 years on Jan 14. Higashi earned a total of 253.8 points from jumps of 128.5 and 125 meters on the K120 Okurayama hill, beating second-place Morten Solem of Norway by 1.2 points. Austria's Bastian Kaltenboeck took third with 246.0.
