51% of Iraqis surveyed say public safety deteriorated: poll
SAMAWAH, Iraq - Iraqi soldiers stand guard near a military camp at Samawah, southern Iraq, which they took over from Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force troops six months ago. Fifty-one percent of Iraqis surveyed in Muthanna Province, where Samawah is located, believe public safety has deteriorated after multinational forces comprising troops from Japan, Britain and Australia retreated from the area, a Kyodo News survey showed on Jan. 16.
