Hashimoto holds off Hiroyama to win Nagoya race
NAGOYA, Japan - Yasuko Hashimoto (R) surges ahead of defending champion Harumi Hiroyama with 700 meters remaining to win the Nagoya International Women's Marathon on March 11. Hashimoto, winner of the 2003 Berlin Marathon, ran shoulder to shoulder with Hiroyama for about 3 km before running away into Mizuho stadium and holding on to cross the line in 2 hours, 28 minutes, 49 seconds.
