Hankyu, Hanshin dept. store operators to merge

OSAKA, Japan - Hankyu Department Stores Inc. and Hanshin Department Stores Ltd. plan to integrate their operations under a holding company in October, sources familiar with the matter said March 17. Photo shows the Hankyu's Umeda head office (R) and Hanshin's headquarters (L), both in Osaka.
