Tokyo sees snow in April, first time in 19 years
TOKYO, Japan - Sleet falls in central Tokyo in the evening of April 4 as an unseasonal cold front blankets extensive areas of Japan. Weather officials say this is the first time since 1988 that Tokyo has seen snow in April, when cherry blossoms as the herald of spring. While Tokyo snows, winter-like weather hit many localities in Japan, with the temperature dropping to minus 9.1 C in Gifu and minus 9.0 in Nagano in the early morning of April 4.
