Abe to raise abduction issue at talks with Bush this week

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (R) greets Shigeru and Sakie Yokota, the parents of Megumi, the iconic figure of North Korea's abductions of Japanese nationals, at a meeting in Tokyo on April 22 of relatives of abduction victims from Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Romania. Abe told the participants in the meeting that he plans to raise the abduction issue when he meets with U.S. President George W. Bush during his trip to the United States this week. Megumi was abducted to North Korea in 1977 at age 13. Pyongyang says she died while North Korea, but Japan says the North has offered no concrete evidence of her death.
