Nationally unified achievement tests revived after 42-yr hiatus
TOKYO, Japan - Pupils sit to take unified achievement tests at an elementary school in Tokyo on April 24. A total of 2.33 million sixth-grade pupils at elementary schools and third-year students at junior high schools across Japan took part in the tests after a 42-year hiatus in the face of growing concern over a decline in Japan's academic standards.
