Japan's 1st bio-gasoline shipment leaves refinery

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Officials cut the tape during a ceremony held at a Nippon Oil Corp. refinery in Yokohama on April 26 to mark Japan's first shipment of bio-gasoline, or gasoline blended with plant-derived fuel. A group of 10 major oil distributors launches a program to curb the emission of global warming gases.

                    TOKYO, Japan - Toshiba Corp. said April 10 it will launch in Japan in mid-May the world's first notebook computer equipped with a next-generation DVD drive. The Qosmio G30/697HS, with an HD DVD drive and a 17-inch high-definition liquid crystal monitor, is expected to sell for about 400,000 yen, Toshiba officials said.

                      Yokohama refinery leaks oil into Tokyo Bay

                      YOKOHAMA, Japan - An aerial photo taken Oct. 26 shows the refinery in Yokohama city of a Nippon Mitsubishi Oil Corp. unit which leaked fuel oil into Tokyo Bay. Workers at the refinery, while cleaning a boiler, mistakenly released fuel inside to the ground, which was funneled via a rainwater duct to Negishi Bay, a part of Tokyo Bay.
