Hirohito discontent with Yasukuni's honoring Class-A war criminals

TOKYO, Japan - A file photo taken in February 1982 shows Emperor Hirohito and Ryogo Urabe (2nd from L), a chamberlain of the Imperial Household Agency, leaving the Diet building after an opening session of parliament. Emperor Hirohito was discontent with Yasukuni Shrine's enshrining of Class-A World War II criminals and concerned about disputes with other Asian countries over history, according to the diaries kept by Urabe.

Crown princess to visit Netherlands

Japanese diplomatic documents declassified on March 7, 2013, show reporters from the victorious allies tried to interview then Emperor Hirohito at the palace while soldiers visited an imperial villa and demanded a guide to it.

Red-brick Tokyo Station building reopens

Prince Mikasa's heart function deteriorates
