Carmakers sound out asthma patients on settlement over pollution
TOKYO, Japan - Plaintiffs and their supporters urge carmakers to pay more to settle their damages suit during a rally held in front of the Tokyo Head Office building of Toyota Motor Corp., one of the seven automakers, on June 4. Toyota and six makers of diesel cars have informally offered to settle with asthma patients in Tokyo, but the plaintiffs say they are not ready to accept the payments because the amount offered is too small.
