Giant Japanese butterburs to the dining table
KUSHIRO, Japan - Giant Japanese butterburs known locally as Rawanbuki are ready to be harvested for food at a farm in Ashoro, southeastern Hokkaido. The stem of Japanese butterburs, which is rich in minerals and food fibers, is soft when cooked and is popular in Japanese cuisine. Rawanbuki grows mostly in the Rawan area of Ashoro and soars over 2 meters in height when fully grown.
