Few queuing for Harry Potter book in Japan as fans await translation

TOKYO, Japan - Harry Potter fans in Tokyo buy the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter series, which went on sale worldwide at midnight July 20 British time. While Harry Potter fans elsewhere may have to wait on a long line to get the book, only a few were seen lining up at a bookstore in Tokyo for the original English version. Many Japanese fans are apparently waiting for the release of a translated edition.

        TOKYO, Japan - A witch-costume-clad Yuko Matsuoka, translator and publisher in Japan of the widely popular ''Harry Potter'' book series, hands the Japanese translation of ''Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'' to a customer at Kinokuniya bookstore in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward on Oct. 23. Some large Tokyo bookstores opened earlier than usual so readers could purchase the fourth installment of the series.
