Last-minute buying pushes up sales of sweet buns named after Abe
TOKYO, Japan - ''Shin-chan Manju,'' sweet buns named after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, are sold at a souvenir shop in the grounds of Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine on Sept. 17. The buns have been enjoying brisk sales following Abe's abrupt announcement Sept. 12 of his decision to resign. On Sept. 17 alone, a total of 1,900 boxes of the buns were sold and demand has been so high that production cannot keep up with it.
