Japan to continue checks on alleged fuel diversion
TOKYO, Japan - Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba responds to questions at the House of Representatives Committee on National Security on Oct. 19, denying opposition allegations that fuel provided by Japan to the U.S.-led coalition in the Indian Ocean was used illegally for U.S. military operations in Iraq. Ishiba and other Cabinet members say Japan will continue efforts to verify that Japanese fuel has not been diverted as U.S. officials claim.
