Matsue Castle lit up in blue on 1st World Diabetes Day
MATSUE, Japan - Matsue Castle in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, is lit up in blue on Nov. 14 as part of worldwide events to mark the first U.N.-designated World Diabetes Day. Organizers said the illumination is designed to raise public awareness of the disease. The number of diabetics worldwide is estimated at about 246 million and more than 3 million diabetes patients die every year.
