Japan, U.S. agree on small cut in burden for U.S. bases

TOKYO, Japan - U.S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer (L) and Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura shake hands at the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo on Dec. 12 prior to their talks. They agreed on a cut of 400 million yen in both fiscal 2009 and 2010 in the utilities fees paid by Tokyo as host-nation support for U.S. forces.
