Iwase re-signs with Dragons for 430 million yen in salary
NAGOYA, Japan - Chunichi Dragons closer Hitoki Iwase speaks to reporters in Nagoya on Jan. 4, after concluding a new one-year deal carrying an estimated annual salary of 430 million yen, the highest for an active Japanese pitcher. A two-time Central League saves leader, Iwase became the first pitcher in Japan to earn 40 saves for three consecutive seasons and helped the Dragons win the Japan Series title.
