LDP ends one-day convention in Tokyo
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda (C) joins cheering delegates at the end of the governing Liberal Democratic Party's one-day party convention at a hotel in Tokyo on Jan. 17. Fukuda, the LDP leader, pledged to implement ''politics from the standpoint of the general public'' as the party adopted a policy platform for a likely general election this year.
