Fujifilm to make Toyama Chemical subsidiary via tender offer
TOKYO, Japan - Fujifilm Holdings Corp. President Shigetaka Komori, Taisho Pharmaceutical Co. President Akira Uehara and Toyama Chemical Co. President Masuji Sugata (L to R) shake hands Feb. 13 after attending a news conference in Tokyo where Fujifilm said it will launch a friendly tender offer for shares in Toyama Chemical and turn the drug maker into a subsidiary. Fujifilm will acquire 66.7 percent of Toyama while Taisho, Toyama's current top shareholder with a 21.8 percent stake, will raise its stake by acquiring an additional 14.93 million Toyama shares.
