U.S. assures Japan of efforts to review measures over alleged rape
TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura (L) meets with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer (2nd R) and Lt. Gen. Bruce A. Wright (R), commander of U.S. Forces, Japan, at the Foreign Ministry on Feb. 13 where he urged the United States to tighten discipline among U.S. soldiers stationed in Japan in the wake of the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl by a U.S. Marine in Okinawa on Feb. 10. Schieffer reassured Komura that the U.S. forces in Japan are working to review and reinforce measures in light of the incident.
