U.S. assures Japan of efforts to review measures over alleged rape
TOKYO, Japan - U.S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer (R) calls on Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura (L) at the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo on Feb. 13 where Schieffer reassured Japan that the U.S. forces in Japan are working to review and reinforce measures following the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl by a U.S. Marine in Okinawa on Feb. 10. Schieffer, accompanied by Lt. Gen. Bruce A. Wright, commander of U.S. Forces, Japan, visited Komura after the two returned earlier in the day from Okinawa where they made a similar call on Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima.
