Fukuda says Defense Ministry needs fundamental reform
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda (2nd L) and members of his Cabinet meet at the Prime Minister's Office on Feb. 22 for a twice-weekly Cabinet meeting. Fukuda told the Cabinet meeting that the Defense Ministry needs a ''fundamental review'' of its structure as criticism grows over its handling of the Feb. 19 collision between a Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer and a fishing boat in local waters off Chiba Prefecture.
