Davis wins 1,000 gold at single-distance worlds

NAGANO, Japan - Olympic champion Shani Davis of the United States wins the men's 1,000-meter gold medal in a rink record time at the world single-distance speed skating championships in Nagano on Saturday. Davis clocked 1 minute, 8.99 seconds to beat Russian runner-up Yevgeny Lalenkov by 0.40 and third-place Denny Morrison of Canada by 0.43 at the M-Wave ice arena.
