Upper house votes down Tanami as next BOJ chief
TOKYO, Japan - House of Councillors members from the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan clap their hands on March 19 after a plenary session of the opposition-dominated upper house voted down the government's nomination of Koji Tanami, governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation, as the next chief of the Bank of Japan.
